Directions to the Eco Centre

If
you are travelling to the region by train, alight at Newcastle
Central Station. The rail station has a Metro statio attached
to it, signed with black M yellow square. Tickets are available
from machines at the head of the escalators leading to the Metro.
Take a green line Metro, heading in the direction of South Shields,
alighting at Jarrow, which takes approximately 15 - 20 minutes.

At
Jarrow Station, you are about 10-15 minutes walk away from the
Eco Centre. Cross over at the Metro line on the footbridge, leaving
the station on the opposite side.
- This
street is Grant Street, turn right and follow it round a large bend
to the T-junction where it ends.
- At
the T-junction turn right onto Hill Street, which passes under the
Metro Line Bridge and becomes Palmer Street.
- Palmer
Street ends at the T-junction turn left here onto Western Road,
which becomes Blackett Street. Follow this road until you come to
a small roundabout.
- Turn
into the right here on to Windmill Way and then right again through
the gates leads you into the car park of the Eco Centre.
- The
Eco Centre has a large wind turbine in its grounds, which is visible
from the Metro when travelling from Newcastle, and comes into view
when walking along Western Road.

BY CAR
- Take
the A19 (from either the North or the
South) or the A194 then the A19 (if
approaching from the West) to the Tyne
Tunnel roundabout on the South side of the
river. Take the exit to Jarrow from this roundabout.
- At
the next (smaller) roundabout, take then
right exit onto Priory road. Follow Priory Road
in a large loop until you reach the next roundabout, taking the right
exit onto Western Road, which becomes Blackett Street.
- Follow
the road to the next roundabout, take
the right exit on the Windmill Ways, and turn right through the gates
of the Eco Centre. A major landmark is the Wind turbine, which is
visible from Western Road.
